October 24,2004 Sunday was a tough day. Lots of ups and downs. We woke up to a cold rainy Sunday morning. After a few last minute details in loading the BigBlue Van. We headed uptown in the rain. That’s the down side. The up was riding to the game with my dear daughter Casey. Its really cool to share all the great tailgating friends with her. I know she had a great time tossing the ball with Kevin, Chris, Jason and Earl. Check out that arm… We are hoping for D-1 softball for her. But I digress
It was good to have Albert’s brothers from Pittsburgh visiting the our little celebration. Rumor has it those boys are taking a couple of pounds of good ole Carolina Pork Barbeque. Brenda still loves having Albert at the tailgate party even though he is a Pitt grad. She is a WVU grad. We will see how friendly they are after the Backyard Brawl this year.
Lots of great food. Kathy’s cheese cornbread oh yeah. Good stuff all the kabobs were gone quick. I think we hit the mark. You know a great thing about tailgating is getting to sample the food up and down the lot. Ashley, Jessica and the Greensboro Crew set me up bigtime with a chicken “Philly style” Cheesesteak sandwich. Awesome…then they threw on some tender smoked sausage. My good friend Big Jason brings us some crab cakes and flank steak. If the Panthers had been playing like the folks in our lot cook… We would be well on our way to Jacksonville.
We all were prepped from a big game… the opportunity to turn it around. We toasted with the good stuff. But for all our toasting and drinking efforts our boys just could not put together enough plays to win the game. Jacksonville is looking further away with each passing week. We don’t need to worry about Jacksonville right now anyway. The Black and Blue have a long trip to make. Seattle - plenty of expensive coffee, lots of grunge rockers, and perfect place to live if you like the smell of fish and your favorite color is drab gray. Go Panthers.
