| Q and A with Missy Cutchall Head Coach Tri-State Thunder 1. What traits does Casey possess that you think will make her a good ambassador for the USA in international completion? Casey is a great kid who gets along with everyone. She is the kind of person that people flock to and always want to be around. Casey keeps things lively at every practice and I am sure she do a great job representing the USA. 2. What has made Casey successful on your travel team? Casey is successful with the Thunder because she is a very versatile player who can play all 9 positions on the field. She is willing to play whatever position she needs to and always strives to be her best no matter where she is. Casey also knows that there will be times at the level at which we play when she will run into obstacles and sometimes she will have to step up her game to overcome them. 3, What have you enjoyed most about coaching and working with Casey? I enjoy coaching Casey for many reasons. Like I mentioned, she is so much fun to have around and the entire team enjoys being around her. She can make any situation seem less difficult and bring a smile to everyone's face no matter what. Casey is a natural athlete so teaching her any skill is easy. 4. What is something you find unique about Casey? Casey has a unique ability to make you love her even when you might want to yell at her. Like all teenagers she pushes the envelope every now and then 2 seconds later you realize you can't be that angry at her. Something that is also unique about Casey is ability to learn a new skill virtually overnight. She came to me last year and said she wanted to learn to pitch. She had played around with it in the past but she wanted to be a little more serious about it. Although she has along way to go to get to where she would like to be, she was able to pitch a couple of innings this Fall in our scrimmage games and was very successful. 5. In what ways to you think Casey has grown or developed as a result of playing softball for you? Since Casey has started playing for the Thunder she has grown so much as a leader. I am extremely proud of how she has learned how important it is to consider the feelings of her teammates over herself. She has grown up a lot on the softball field in the past year. 6. Any other comment you would like to add would be welcome. Like I said, Casey is a great kid to be around. She is an all-round athlete with lots of natural ability. I am very excited that she has the opportunity to travel to Australia and play and I couldn't think of anyone better to represent our team, our organization and the USA! As much as we will miss when she is gone for a couple of weeks, I bet they miss her more when she comes home!!! |
